prime time meltdown...

it is the time i feared most in my newly independent life...
my shows are over!!!
most people would take this opportunity to take up new hobbies and do a little cleaning, but not i! no, i am completely and utterly miserable, left to entertain myself with re-runs of Dr. Phil and forced into the daytime world that is soap operas.  this also means i'm going to have to spend more time with drew... ugh!

however, to keep my spirits up, i have decided to post my favorite clips of my precious shows for your viewing pleasure!

i may be a cowboys fan, but DAMN...

i love cameron!

ok so it's not the most recent season, but it doesn't get any freakin' better than that!!!! meredith & derek ♥

thank goodness for tosh and chelsea or life would officially be over!

summer lovin'...

thank goodness for target and their amazing sales!  the last two weekends i have accumulated some lovely and bright patio decor over the past two weekends.  while it is a work in progress, i did manage to set-up my little patio set...
clearly i have been in a lime green mood (you will understand as i post more pictures from my house).  barkley obviously approves of my color choices!  my other hurdle right now is getting my pool back in order; had a little run-in with some algae, but hopefully i am back on the right track thanks to quite a bit of pool chemicals and my father...

Every marriage is a mistake. Some people just cope with their mistakes better than others.
-Salvador Minuchin

how i feel about this: i think i'm going to invent divorce counseling; it's where you go with your spouse after you are divorced to work through all the %#$! you built up over the course of your marriage.  this would prevent couples who have been divorced for a decade to continue fighting as if they live under the same roof, which, for me, is quite annoying when it is sitting in my office.

what i learned today: you gotta play the game...

randomness: attachment is the only thing keeping me interested

inspired idea*

to go along with my cooking interest, as we get closer to summer i am usually ready for a total beauty overhaul!  however, i'm squeezing a tighter budget these days, so anything that is au natural and diy i am all for!  here is an amazing exfoliate shared by Lauren Conrad on her website...

Lemons

ingredients:
5 tablespoons sea salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lemon

mix the sea salt until the olive oil until coated; then squeeze in lemon and SCRUB AWAY!

the novice chef...

one thing i was looking forward to most about having my own kitchen (complete with new black appliances, thank you!) was finally putting my obsession with the Food Network to good use.  that being said, first attempts have not panned out so well...  seems my food often smells and looks better than it actually tastes; that, and i haven't had to actually use cook ware for over 2 years is further complicating the process.

either way, i'm slowly getting closer to the food trifecta.  last night, i once again used poor Drew as my guinea pig and tried out an appetizer.  I made roasted tomatoes with garlic gorgonzola by the lovely Giada De Laurentiis, and I would recommend them with some slight modifications!

INGREDIENTS:
12 roma tomatoes, sliced in half lengthwise
1/4 cup of olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs
3/4 cup finely crumbled Gorgonzola or grated Parmesan
Parsley for garnish

basically you remove the seeds from the tomato halves, then marinate them in the olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper for about 10 minutes.  then, you fill them with the mixture of bread crumbs and cheese, before baking them at 375 for 25 minutes.  however, i would tone down the bread crumbs, like, a LOT, and use a completely different stuffing.   the tomatoes themselves with the marinade were amazing, but next time i make them, i think i will cube mozzarella then toss it them balsamic vinegar as the inside... yumm!

not so cute...

my four-legged friends are very frustrating lately...

operation "trust" commenced last week in my effort to free my puppies from their confined cage and give them a bit of much-needed freedom.  being just 10 months old, i was hesitant to unleash my babies onto my brand new home, but also was tired of feeling guilty for leaving them in a cage and driving home every day on my lunch break to let them out for a bathroom break and a quick leg stretch.  we are currently in day 8...

list of things my puppies have destroyed/dirtied:
one:   1.25 lbs of cedar mulch (approximately)
two:   10 decorative twine balls, varied in color
three: 4 muddy paws, includes 12 muddy fingernails
four:  2.5 poopy paws, tracked on various surfaces
five:  1 unfortunate tennis ball

in all honesty, this could be much worse.  However, I am quite sick of vacuuming my carpet every day and washing puppy paws.  Clearly my desire to have children is decreasing by the day...

NOTICE the slew of toys and menacing looks...

shine on...

the weekend brought new excitement for my family and i, as my brother took his baseball team to the NAIA Regional Playoffs!  words cannot express how proud of him i am; he gave a stellar performance to carry his team to the championship game.  they will be headed to Lubbock, Texas on Tuesday for Super Regionals, and will begin their play on Thursday.  so here's a shout out to the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes, wishing them all the luck in lubbock!

blog overhaul...

after a brief hiatus from my obsession with my lovely home, i have finally settled in enough to get back to my little corner blog!  however... i still haven't taken my "after" shots of Orchid; but i promise that I will soon!  once i get my office set up, then all my technological necessities will be accessible... so SOON!

in addition to posts about my newfound independence, i also am going to be posting other "musings" as i will call them... recipes, favorite things, fashion, therapy thoughts, and more.  so stay tuned blogger friends!
